About Sapling AI Detector
Sapling AI Detector helps students, educators, and content teams check whether a piece of text was written by a human or generated by AI. We built it to make that check fast, transparent, and easy to understand — no guesswork, no black box.
Get Full ReportWhy we built this
AI-generated text has become common enough that most people can no longer tell it apart from human writing just by reading it. That creates a real problem for teachers grading essays, editors reviewing submissions, and anyone who needs to know what they’re actually looking at.
Sapling AI Detector exists to close that gap. Instead of a single yes-or-no answer, we break a document down sentence by sentence and show you where the signals of AI generation are strongest, so you can form your own judgment rather than take a black-box score on faith.
We don’t claim perfection — no detector can guarantee 100% accuracy, and we say so plainly. What we can offer is a clear, consistent method and a report you can actually read and reason about.
How we detect AI-written text
Perplexity Analysis
We measure how predictable each word choice is against language model probability patterns. Human writing tends to be less statistically predictable than AI output.
Burstiness Scoring
Human writers naturally vary sentence length and rhythm. AI text tends to be more uniform. We score this variation across the whole document.
Sentence-Level Breakdown
Rather than one overall score, we flag individual sentences so you can see exactly which parts of a document triggered the detection, not just a final percentage.
